Here’s a step-by-step guide on how you can start self-hypnosis:

  1. Find a quiet and comfortable place where you can relax without any distractions.
  2. It helps to not have much food in the stomach and to have comfortable clothes on. Have some water nearby.
  3. Sit in a comfortable position, and close your eyes and turn your attention inward, to your breath.
  4. Take deep but comfortable and natural breaths, using diaphragmatic breathing, and allow your body to relax completely, and with every breath out letting go even more.
  5. Set a goal or an intention for the session. Something that is important and meaningful to you.
  6. Imagine yourself in a peaceful and relaxing environment, maybe your favourite relaxing place.
  7. Allow your mind and your body to become fully present into this imagined peaceful and relaxing environment, to the extent that you can see, hear, feel and smell the environment of that imagined place
  8. Allow the thoughts to come and go, not paying attentions to them, not analysing, not judging. every time a though comes, allow it to go, letting go of it.
  9. Allow yourself to enter into a hypnotic state by using relaxation techniques, such as progressive muscle relaxation or guided imagery.
  10. Once you feel deeply relaxed and focused, visualize yourself achieving your goal or intention in detail, using all your senses.
  11. Repeat your affirmation or mantra several times, and imagine it becoming true.
  12. Slowly bring yourself back to the present moment, feeling refreshed and energised.
  13. Practice self-hypnosis regularly to reinforce positive changes in your life.
